    Even with a good SSD, you're unlikely to notice much a difference between running SATAI and SATAII. Even with a good SSD, you're unlikely to be using the full bandwidth of the SATAI spec; most of the time you'll be doing small random reads and writes using a fraction of that SATAI spec.

    That being said, never tried this, but it's definitely interesting. I was under the impression the ICH8M was SATAII by default.

    ocz vertex = 230MBps, SATA1 limits it to 140/90

    thanks, and yes it is supposed to be but they have limited it, and i don't know if an updated driver would work, i post again in 2 weeks when my vertex arrives. :)

    Partially solved: Change BIOS setting to 'thorough' boot, instead of 'fast' or 'auto', however this only works for ATA mode, NOT ACHI, or most of the time not, still wanting to know how to go full ACHI SATA II. I think that the mode on my driver might have changed to mode 5 Ultra DMA for the ATA setting.

    Investigations?
