I have purchased a Dell Inspiron 1420 running Vista Home. I had also ordered the Creative Labs Sound Blaster express card sound card. I have gotten it to work fine except for the optical in. I wanted to use this card to benefit recordings and I am unable to use it with Sony Audition 2.0. I am not able to record, nor does Audition read that I have this card as an input. I have also noticed that the optical out port has a red light within it but the in has no light. I felt sure I installed everything correctly but did I miss something?

Dont know about your specific problem but the out showing a red light and the in not is normal as the light carries the information. The Input is expecting to recieve light from another output whereas the output is sending light to another input.

Not the best explaination I've ever come up with but hopefully yoy get what I mean, he heh.

What are you recording from? Whatever you are recording from you must make sure the optical out on your source is enabled and that there is indeed a red light coming from the optical cable.
