[ :(!]Based on some previous threads I think a lot of us are under the impression that the Dell UltraSharp is similar to the briteview. Yet the screen listed for the 700m (similar glossy screen) is not listed as an Ultra sharp but the 8600 and the 9200 are. Can anyone clear up this mystery?

I agree with you guys, Dell is somewhat confusing in the verbage they use for the "glossy" screen versus what an "ultra sharp" screen is. The Inspiron 700m is definitely the same type of screen as say a Toshiba TruBrite, Sony XBrite or HP BrightView, but the Dell 8600 is NOT the same yet it is classified as being "Ultra Sharp" and so is the 9200 being given that term. I was under the impression the 9200 would definitely have a glossy finish. But, to be honest, I don't really know. I'll see if anyone at Dell responds to an email regarding this question.

On a different topic I posted a reply stating that I spoke with a tech at dell and was told that the 9200 will not have the Glossy finish only the 700m. When I asked why they would make a new laptop and not have all the latest technology the person from India on the other line mumbled somthing and I said "Thank You, Good Bye"

If someone can get a "CLEAR" response as to why they didn't offer an Extra Brite Technology please post... I am still curious.

Hey guys, the Dell Public Relations folks are good at responding to questions we send and here is what they said regarding this question:

"Our marketing term [for glossy finish] is "crystal clear display," you'll see it in the description of the 700m etc. The 9200 does not have a crystal clear display, but DOES have an UltraSharp display, which means it features rich and vibrant colors and unbeleivably wide viewing angles."

[xx(]I don't mean to sound antagonistic, but WHAT A CROCK! How in the world is the average customer ever supposed to know the difference based upon an obscure catch phrase. I was led to believe that I was getting a glossy screen. I wonder how many out there feel the same way....

Well on the good side people on other forums are saying good things about the 9200's screen (Samsung LCD panel apparently) so its not all bad...

I've never really like the glossy screens anyway.
