For classes I use a USB thumb drive for storing my notes and whatnot. I keep running into the problem of leaving the thumbdrive in my dorm room or losing the stupid thing (although I di end up finding it afterwards!

I was thinking about getting something like the following http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820183050 to use in my 1420 and 1520 to store notes.

My plan is to always leave it in the laptop so I don't loose it.

    Few questions though
    1. Can this be written to and read by the "SD/MMC -MS/Pro" slot in the front of my 1420?

    2. Does my 1520 have this type of slot? I haven't found it but reviews online says it does ...

    Thanks in advance!

The 1520's media card slot is just under and to the rear of the optical drive.

Ahh. Never noticed it ... and I've had this thing completely apart.

Are there drivers to get it working on xp? It doesn't seem to work on my 1520.

Hmm doesn't seem to work ... I must have it unhooked inside. Looks like I am going to have to take it apart.

Thanks for the driver help though :)

Figured out the problem almost two months later.

I was thumbing through the BIOS looking for intel virtualization. I found that the motherboard had the slot disabled by default.

    Enabled it and no problems.
