    SDcard reader question?

    How do you use the built in SDcard reader in a vostro 1500? I was at my friend's house and we tried it with his SDcard, and it just does nothing. I have the driver installed and the card is the same size and shape as the "Plastic" that originally came with the laptop. Is there a application I have to launch first?

    You plug it in, and a prompt should come up on your screen recognizing a new device. Otherwise, you access it from My Computer.

    Dragonpet - if the card is an SDHC card, and the system is running Vista, it should recognize it. If the Vostro is running XP, then it won't recognize an SDHC without XP SP3 or an SDHC patch from M$.

    Oh, does the SDHC patch only affect the SDreaders slot? I forgot to mention that my friend have a USB converter so I just used that and the card works with it.

    Also, I saw from your sig that you have SP3 already, where did you get it?
