I have got my M6300 and i am not too satisfied with the display.
The display states it is a SEC3155 and i have got 2 really dark corners at the Start Button and the system clock.

I wonder, if it is on every SEC3155 like that or should i ask for a change of display to TrueLife display and hope to get a LG LPL0000?

Does the LG have other problems? How does the displays compare to each other? Is any one of them better than the other?

    Thanks for your attention!

No Samsung display can compare to an LG. Doesn't matter if it's a laptop, desktop LCD or even a TV.

NOTHING COMPARES to the godly LG screen.

Samsung has always had a bad reputation with consumers in my books for grainy or bluntly put, just crappie screens.

Are those dark spots in the bottom corners a problem? I thought everyone had those..

Well, sorry to hear that it bothers you.

My M1710 and M170 both have had it on both SEC and LPL (sammy and lg, respectively) screens.

Just curious, why does it bother you so much? You don't really notice it unless you are staring right at it. I could understand a dead pixel or whatnot, but the corners?

Anyway, it has to do with placement of the backlight and it doesn't quite reach to the corners. I am sure a dual-lamp display would eliminate it but Dell hasn't quite caught on with those displays....

I had the SEC screen and it was horrid, my replacement LG screen is night an day difference. Totally different computer.

While the LG screens are MUCH better, the dark corners were still there for me. Like I said, it is the backlight placement. It doesn't affect the screens qualities like color, etc.

that's what I thought :) I have a LG (LPLCC00, that's LG rght?) 1280x800 truelife screen, absolutely perfect (except for the fact that I want a 1440x900 lol but that's my fault!)

My Samsung screen is fabulous. Barely noticable backlight bleed on a black screen and no graininess.

I agree with Dangnabbit. My 20" Samsung LCD is AWESOME. I had a SEC 17" for the e1705 and I can tell you that it was GREAT.

Don't listen to the people in here "generalizing" that one brand is better than the other, especially because it isn't true. Look on all the review sites and you'll see that Samsung has higher ratings for their LCD's than LG. I've compared the two brands PLENTY of times in stores and at home, and from my experience, the Samsung displays are better (not very noticeable). But if you compare Samsung/LG's to other brands you can see major differences... they are both good LCD manufacturers.

SEC3155 vs. LPL0000 <----- Maybe between these two the LG is better from what I'm hearing anyway.

The viewing angles on my LPL0000 (1280x800 glossy) in my Inspiron 1420 are a bit crap... but maybe I was just used to the uber goodness in my HP Pavilion dv9008tx (1440x900). No graininess to be seen though, and generally a pretty good image.

I too have a SEC3155 (1920x1200) on my Inspiron 1720 and was wondering if Dell has an LG 1920x1200 screen available and if anyone has it on their notebook what the part number for it is. I think I may want to contact Dell to see if they can replace mine since I'm still within my 30 day return period. Thanks in advance.
