What in the world is the point of having a SIM card slot in the battery bay of the M1530? Anyone have any idea on how to use this or what it's for?

When you configure your Dell, you can opt for WWAN service from AT&T - when you do, they'll place a SIM card inside there and install all the software necessary. The only thing you need to do is call to activate and pay the monthly fee for the service.

    (Basically what sleey0 said, lol).
