SO who here has gotten a nearly flawless, perfect laptop from dell without having to send it back once??

I got my 1420 in early May. My initial order got cancelled by Dell and I had to reorder the same config by phone. That was a PITA.

When I received the computer, I noticed the grainy screen right away (that was before I found this forum and saw this was a common problem.) To Dell's credit, after 45 mins of trouble shooting on the phone, they sent a replacement within two days and it is (much) improved.

The computer came with a 9 cell battery in the base price. I was grateful for the free upgrade but had no idea it protruded so far from the rear of the computer, making handling uncomfortable. I ended up buying a six cell battery on-line for 1/2 the price Dell was charging and it works great.

Other than the screen, the biggest issue I had with the computer was the inclusion of a 3 ft power cord (from plug to AC adapter). To me this is asinine (I'm sure to others, it's no big deal but hey, we all got our quirks.) I just got a 6ft cord for $2.99 off eBay, and now I'm finally happy... :D

Just got my m1530 yesterday - perfect screen (and yes, it's manufactured by Samsung. If you consider everything, they had a bad line of LCDs that Dell shouldn't have shipped, but the rest of their displays are outstanding, in both laptops and TVs. It's a SEC3350.) Everything's perfect, except for the lil' keyboard bump that a bunch of people have noted. I'll just fix it myself or get a tech to do it.

    Happy customer. :)

Its actually pretty tough to get that control center cover off without scratching the thing. I'd be very careful. Id personally do it myself, you never know when tech might screw up or accidentally scratch your notebook. Regardless of how great they might be, the person that will care about your notebook the most, is no one but yourself.

I havn't had any problems with mine. Only issue I had was my fault; I tried flashing the dvd drive's firmware and that sort of...bricked it. They replaced it quickly, so thumbs up to them =]

I've had my 1530 since April and the only problem is that the touch-sensitive volume adjustment is extremely slow (13 seconds or so from 0 to 100%). I e-mailed Dell and they troubleshooted a little, but ultimately said I needed to contact another department or whatnot. I've yet to pursue it.
