Ok. I've done alot of research and I found out that the E1705 has on-board support for SPDIF via the 7-pin S-video adapter in the back. So I went to Dell's website and got the Component w/ SPDIF adapter from the website. Component output works great. Really nice picture quality coming out of a jack that I thought was just an S-Video plug a few months ago. I tested out SPDIF output and it works but I was kinda disappointed. So far I have only been able to get the equivalent to 3.1 sound so far and I think the surround sound system is expanding it a bit so it may only be transmitting stereo audio still. I get left, center, right on the front and the sub but the rear speakers are producing no audio. Is the SPDIF output on the E1705 capable of true surround sound? If so what am I doing wrong?
