I posted this on XPS forum too:

Please help me decide between SXPS 16 and Studio 17. Configs are below. Main differences in configurations:
SXPS - smaller (15.6"), higher resolution (1920x1080) screen; better build quality; more stylish; slightly better wireless card and graphics card.
    Studio - larger (17") screen.

Main uses = Internet, video (not blu-ray, mostly online tv etc), very light gaming, office excel etc

Personally, I would go for the XPS. Mainly based on the Intel wifi card and its inherent compatibility with Linux, and it just looks awesome, IMO.

That's why I had the 1340 once upon a time.

Better resolution is a plus, if that's important to you.

I think that black chain-link finish is hideous, btw, but that's my personal opinion. Change that and the Studio 17 is 20 bucks more than the XPS 16, so...

i would choose sxps too, due to the more stylish finish and a slightly better gpu. be warned tho i have heard stories about heating problems in the sxps-16. it seems dell is refreshing a few of their laptops tho, so i would wait a little while.

in 2008 for this price I got the Intel 5300 N WIfi Bluray Drive/burner, laptop messenger bag, T9400 Core 2 Duo 6MB cache 4GB RAM, 17" RGB LED 1920x1200 display.

I guess Del has run out of Bluray drives and RGB LED displays that matter.

Can anyone tell me any more about Dell refreshing their SXPS line? Should I honestly wait for the new version?
