Most of us know about the 'santa rosa' improved platform launching 8/9May, I am very anxious to buy a inspirion 9400/e1705, but would first like to know if a better 'Santa rosa' 800MHzfsb model is going to be launched soon? any info would be great. ;)

Well, it is going to launch that day, and Dell has been pretty good at releasing their updates fairly quickly. I would say you shouldn't have to wait for long.

Thats true, but the question is when will nVidia have the 8800Go ready to put it in the M1710/9400? I think that they arent going to use a 8600Go in an XPS.

There are currently no plans for an 8800GTX - it produces way too much heat. If we're lucky, we'll see a GS version, but not quite yet.

it will be 7950gtx in new systems of m1710, and maybe 8600 in e1705, but probably existing 7900gs.

Prices going to be high as always for newer technology.. let just hope that existing products see a massive fall in prices.. just hoping...

I was at a dell kiosk in the mall the other day and the salesperson told me they were going to be making design changes to the inspiron notebooks. I wonder if that'll happen when they release santa rosa. Has anyone else heard anything about that?

They are releasing the Santa Rosa platform in May and Dell's offerings will be revealed at this time as well. If changes are going to be made they will be in May, not June.

dell has mentioned new latitudes with santa rosa, not new inspiron. Besides once santa rosa prices will go up and it will be awhile before they drop. Right now most lappys at dell are about 30% off, you wont see that with santa rosa probably for atleast six months.

We've heard rumors of chassis redesigns for the inspiron... not sure when issit happening. It'll be either a new 14.1inch laptop or the whole range (due to the deal tat dell made with asus)..

    Guesses...

A 7950GTX in the new Santa Rosa M1710 would not make any sense since the 7950GTX does not support DirectX 10.

Will the XPS M1210 be outfitted with Santa Rosa as well? Any reason to wait? How long?
