While this isn't DIRECTLY in regards to a Dell Laptop, it's a question I'm asking for my Dell...

I heard that some laptops have a speed limit of 533 MHz when 2GB chips are used, and I'm interested in getting 2 x 2GB PC2 5300 RAM - but will it run at 667Mhz on a Dell E1420 (Santa Rosa Chipset)?

    Thanks!

It should work okay, as from what I can tell Dell's pages all list 4GB of RAM @ 667 and not 533.

But seriously, I don't think it would make a difference. 667 ram has higher latencies and does not provide a significant (if any) performance gain...they are tied.

...how does a higher Mhz RAM have higher latencies, and a decrease in performance?
