Well things were pretty frightening this morning, but at least it ended well =P

So I took my dell to school this morning as usual when I accidentaly forgot to zip up my backpack as I was leaving class... so unexpectedly I felt weight shifting and suddenly my laptop flew out and fell almost 5 feet onto the ground

it was in sleep mode at that time and I was worried that I might of damaged internal parts like the hard drive, but the blue light was still blinking and everything seemed alright! however, when I got home in the afternoon and plugged in my headphones, I started getting that weird buzzing/whine sound I never experienced before but everyone talks about (not sure if the drop was the direct cause of this). maybe the drop rattled something and slightly disloged it?

but thumbs up to dell for durability! ;)

So wait...if everyone who has the sound drops their computers...will it get rid of it???

Note to everyone: I AM JOKING. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR COMPUTERS. I CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR COMPUTERS IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY DUMB ENOUGH TO DROP IT ON THE FLOOR ON PURPOSE.

I'm in a special program where we use laptops within the cirriculum, and the school board purchases computers from a company called MDG (it's canadian, and if you've heard of it you know it sucks crap). Since us students are always careless and everything, they gave the other students MDG Durabooks ( http://www.mdg.ca/en/products/notebooks/durabook/) since they 'supposedly' seem disaster-proof and what not. However, knowing MDG would crap out on their systems as usual I opted out for my own laptop (with some disadvantages such as not being able to use the school network), and it's turned out to be a great decision on my part. Their "spill-proof, drop-proof and shock resistant" laptops get all these system errors and hardware failures while I stroll along laughing at them

Btw, they were forced to bay $1908 CDN for the laptop with these specs:

    14" XGA (1024 x 768)
    Core 2 Duo T5300 (1.73 GHz)
    1 GB RAM
    120 GB HD
    Intel GMA 950
    Office Professional, Norton 2007
A really crappy computer overall :p
