My E1705 is great, and I love it. However, there are one or two errant smudges and spots on the screen I would like to get rid of. It's the high-res glossy screen, and is there any cleaner that is recommended?

Go to a camera shop and buy the special cloth for lenses.

microfiber willl do perfectly. It can do most cleaning without any solvents. But if you need some assistance, always use the weakest required for the job. So start with water.

A wet washcloth (not dripping) and gentle pressure followed by a dry cloth does the trick for me.
Then keep yer fingers off! :D

CC sells a package that has a microfiber cloth and monster screen cleaner. I know people in here don't buy the advantage of monster cleaner but it actually does help. Its actually a gel that helps fill in small imperfections. I use it on every screen i have... *gets in car and goes to bank to cash check from monster*

Hehe, I tried some disinfectant wet wipes today, and they kinda left streaks from the drying marks on my screen... But at least they got rid of the smudges/body oil marks! lol

Recommendations from Dell on LCD screen cleaning are available at
    http://premiersupport.dell.com/supp...n/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&dn=FA1011125

In doing some online checking before posting this I noticed that most FAQ's on LCD screen cleaning advise against using glass cleaners that include amonia as they damage the screen in the long term. They also advise against using paper towel as they are too abravise.

The general consensus is to use a moist lint free cloth with water (distilled water better). Cloths used to clean glasses or for camera equipment work great. Specifically designed LCD cleaning products work well also.

When cleaning, the screen should not be sprayed directly and light pressure should only be used.

Ok, so I need to stay away from Windex. I used the water and cloth method, and it worked great! thanks.
