I have the E1705 with the upgraded glossy screen and there's lots of specs and spots on it as if water or something else had splashed on there and now they have dried up.

The finger print smudges and stuff I can easily clean with a towel or something on the screen, but what can I do about the water drops or whatever it is. Can I use some kind of solution which will clearly clean it up, or windex or something.

I'm afraid to press too hard on the screen because I don't want it to break, so I'm not sure how I can clean this. Please help!!

A moist microfiber cloth ought to do the trick nicely.

Go to Staples they have a Laptop & LCD Cleaning Kit which comes with 3 pre-moistened cleaning sheets, 3 lint free polishing cloths and 1 microfibre finishing cloth. It costs like $5.99, but it is a good investment if you don't want to end up scratching the LCD.

I also got a new air can from staples. Im very cautious using it because somtimes it sprays out liquid and I have it tilted straight up, anyone know if this is safe wen liquids' spraying out?

P.S Don't worry about those spots, I have the same screen on my E1505 and get them almost daily I just wipe them off with the wipes

I use the canned air for dust particles. For the fine dust that accumulates on the screen I use a lens cleaning cloth. Never use windex on a LCD. All my screens are LCD. (I have 3)

You know you can buy microfibre cloths virtually anywhere for under a dollar? Why waste $6 at staples? Just grab a cloth at a dollar store and use some warm water.

I use the cleaning cloths my optometrist gives me for my reading glasses. Even if you don't wear glasses personally, ask friend or family member to grab some spare ones for you next time they get their eyes checked. Optometrists usually just give them away as part of their service, and won't say no if you ask for a couple of spare ones! They definitely do a great job and are gentle enough not to leave scratches (which is what they're designed for!)

Probably just condensation. Nothing to worry about.

    Seconded. Eyeglass clothes are ideal.

So this is common? For there to be splotches on the screen like that daily? That kind of sucks? Is it only with the glossy screen or what?

Go to www.klearscreen.com, this is by far the best stuff on the market for cleaning laptop screens. I ordered the cleaner and the micro-chamois cloth. It's safe and leaves absolutely no streaks. It's much better than the stuff from Staples. I highly recommend it.

    YIKES!
I never recommend canned air for LCDs just for that reason. That liquid is extremely cold, and who knows what that kind of localized cool temp can do to the screen. I worry that it could cause a delamination -maybe like a bubble or something under the polarizing coating.
Then there's the contents themselves; the stuff might react with the plastic in's liquid form.

I have always had great success with just a damp microfiber cloth ( even a cheapo one) and one tiny drop of Dawn dish detergent, and a bit of patience. Real gental, non abrasive, and cuts the grease.
I wouldn't use paper towels, because they can contain minute grit. And do a preliminary gental wipe to get all the dust off, too, because even that contains abrasive matter.

yeah using canned air could possibly cause a problem if some liquid comes out because of the cold temp it might damage the LCD.
ive got the glossy screen on my xps m1210, and i just use windex and some bounty....works wonders
