Okay, so as a lot of you probably already know, Dell has stated they are giving us heavy delays because of the color issue with the notebooks and LCD ISSUES. I for one am almost glad that they're delaying us because of the LCD issues. To me, this makes me think that they're trying to fix the crazy grainy screen problem thats been haunting a good 50% of 1520 owners and won't ship out new systems until they get new screens or fix the problem. So I say, go ahead Dell, delay me. As long as I get my comp. by Oct. and the screen BETTER be perfect! What do you guys think?

Eh.. I agree that it's a good thing that they are/should be fixing the LCD issues. But some of us don't have a whole lot of time to spare.
-
Actually the grainy screens are only on the 1280 x 1024 resolution.

XGA here.
Hoping for the best.

well that could be one thing, or what if the are lazy asses over there who didnt order enough lcds, or if they are to lazy to do anytthing properly over there
-
yeah im down for a wait as long as i get a perfect system... just not to long of a wait.. by the time we get these our cpu's will be obsolete, lol
-
I believe ppl are not noticing grainness on WXGA screens or because it has considerably less amount of pixels and grainness even if present due to uneven or poor coating will not be seen much.... But when you go for higher res like WXGA+ or WSXGA or WUXGA chances of getting grainness are high IMO since there is more number of pixels here compared to WXGA (1.26 times for WXGA+, 1.72 times for WSXGA and 2.25 times for WUXGA)

now, i heard some one got off with a rep, and he saud they arent using auo screens anymore.mine is still in pre production, so i wont get an AUO screen!ya!
-
That is correct. Dell has stopped using AUO screens due to AUO's inability to provide proper screens. Props to Dell for standing up to them and discontinuing them. To be honest, it makes sense for everyone? Why would Dell go through all the trouble of making a laptop with a crappy screen if customers are going to be unhappy, possibly never buy from Dell again if they're that angry about a grainy screen, and Dell would probably have to spend extra effort, time, and money to come fix/replace it. It's better for the customer too, because they don't get a crappy screen.....
And I guess it works out for AUO (in the long run)...hopefully they can build better screens now that Dell has let them go....
So props to Dell for all this. Oh, and have you guys noticed that Dell likes to stand up to big companies? Like with the whole XP thing and Microsoft....I know it's going to be discontinued in about 6 months, but letting a year of leeway when Vista came out for its customers was a good move. Did any other company do that? Not that I'm aware of.... -

As for being happy for the delays. How can you be happy for a delay. We dont even know for sure what the hold up is. Nor will we ever know. To think Dell is delaying all these orders to benefit us is a bunch of BS. They are delaying us because of the overwhelming repsonse to their new Models. PERIOD. -
The delay is terrible. Think of all the students that wont have laptops going away to college.
-
. Thanks again DELL for DELAYING my education!

I wonder if i should send my tuition bill to dell....
Screen Delays a good thing?....
