    Symptom:
When my M1710 is under battery power, dimming the LCD display below full brightness produces a loud buzzing noise from the area of the POWER/HDD/BATT LEDs. Moving the screen can cause the level of the buzzing to diminish or increase.

Having the LCD set to 6 (full brightness) eliminates the noise.

Battery charge level does not seem to be a factor in this. It will happen with a partially depleted battery. Battery life does seem to be reduced as a result of thism however it is most likely due to having the LCD set at 6 instead of a nice 3-4 to conserve power when in BATT mode.

Also, when in AC Power mode, the noise is not produced at any LCD setting.

Anyone else experience this? I have searched over the forums here and also on Dell Support and am unable to find any related info.

    Thanks for any input.
