Hi i posted this in another section but thought id get an answer here quicker, Hope yous dont mind.

hope somebody can give me a bit of help..

My Girlfreind has a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop, It is about 1 1/2 year old.

Her mum was using the laptop a couple of nights ago and the screen just went blank suddenly when she was browsing the internet. She held the Power button in and turned it off as it was still running. When she tried to Start it up again the Laptop is starting up but nothing is coming up on the screen, The screen is staying completely blank, Although when you hold for talk sake the Light of your mobile phone around 1cm away from the Screen you can see the Desktop of the Laptop. So basically the laptop is working but theres no light to light the screen up it just stays black as if it isnt turned on.

I hope yous understand as i cant put it into words.

The Laptop Is Turned ON but the screen is BLACK but when you hold a light up very close to it you can see the Screen.

Sounds like the backlite has gone in the LCD. You could try reseating the LCD cable located beneath the hinge cover, otherwise you are looking at a replacement LCD screen.
