    What are your thoughts on why there is only one screen resolution available on the xps1530....and would this be a good choice at this price with the $599 discount?

    In my opinion the provided resolution of 1280x800 is more than enough for a 15" notebook.

    Agreed. That's what I've got, because it was the only choice at the time, unless you bought a Blu-Ray drive.
