This isn't a big deal, but when I close the lid on my M1710 and open it up, it seems like the resolution gets dropped because all my desktop icons get re-positioned to the upper left corner. Anyone know if there's a setting or something to avoid this? Thanks.

What video card drivers are you using? I know there have been some problems if you use nVidia drivers from any other site besides Dell. I don't know if this could be the cause, but if you are using a driver laptop2videogo or somewhere else, you might try Dell's and see if you get the same results.

My 1705 does not do this. I'm running stock drivers but mild OC on my 7900gs

I use standby, not hibernate, what are your settings and driver version?

I'm pretty sure all of my drivers are straight off Dell's site. I went there after I formatted my notebook to make sure I was up to date (as the cds they give you usually have drivers that are ancient). I'll try the registry change, looks promising. Thanks for the help.
