ok i know this might sound kind of silly but is it ok if i have the screen always dimmed when using it
like it won't hurt the screen ?

the reason i ask is because when its on bright it hurts my eyes after a while

Yes. In fact you're probably extending the life of your backlight also. I have mine turned down 2 clicks from max.

That's actually a good thing for several reasons.

    1. Lower Power consumption, whether you're on AC Adapter or Battery, it lowers the power consumption.
    2. Lower risk of burn-in -- the chance of having the image burn into the screen due to no activity and no screensaver is negligible with the screen brightness lower.
    3. Backlight will last longer.

#2 has nothing to do with the backlight brightness. It has to do with persistence of the image being displayed on the LCD.
