I have a Dell E1505 and, a while back, the screen cracked (long story). Instead of replacing the screen with the same WSXGA+ one, I decided to upgrade to a WUXGA+. While it works perfectly as a display, the brightness levels are completely wrong (and there are what looks to be two burn marks near the bottom left...). Instead of going in any particular order, they seem to alternate. For instance, my rough approximation of the order is 4, 6, 3, 2, 3, 2, 2, 2. So I can't actually get to the brightest or dimmest setting, which is annoying when I'm watching a movie on it.

Well, simple. Send it back in and get it replaced. But do check if it's a driver issue first.

Not quite so easy. I no longer have a warranty from Dell and the screen I got was from eBay and self-installed. So that's sort of out of the question. Where would I even get the proper drivers?

Probably backlight/inverter issue.
This should be in the dell section.. mod will move it soon
