    screen still on when closed
    i think there is no sofware error

    Have you tried the advance power settings or enable the options in the 'closing lid' settings in the advanced power options??? Check there and see if it works...

    Do you mean that the LCD stays on even when you close the lid? if that is the problem update your video driver to the latest one, that worked for me in the past.

    My 1420 has done this since the day I installed Windows XP.. With Vista it actually turns the backlight off when I close the lid.. There's nothing I could find to fix the issue under XP though.. I believe it's just a chipset feature not supported in the drivers for XP versus Vista..

    But if this is happening to you under Vista.. i'm drawing a blank.
