People... the screen on my 1720 ... 1440*900 truelife looks very washed out... the colors aren't vivid, i don't know much about the settings.. can anyone help... for instance the CRT monitor at work looks much better LOL
-
The brightness might be down, turn the battery mode to high performance.
-
Your LCD screen on that 1720 is never going to look as good as the colors on an actual CRT monitor. CRT monitors in and of themselves produce colors better than full size desktop LCD's and most laptop LCD's are even worse. I've never been impressed with the quality of the LCD's used by Dell as far as color reproduction goes. They look washed out and dull.

by default yes, you need to go into the nvidia control panel to fix it. I also like digital intensity +8% on my lcd, makes it a lot better.
-
digital vibrance in nvidia control center for the win
-
I bought a 15" LCD from Dell a few years back, and the color was much better then any other crt monitor I have ever owned. Maybe I got lucky with the monitor but the colors just popped out at me and looked so much more lively.
-
Hey how did you get digital vibrance to work? The option is greyed out when I open it in the nvidia control panel. Did you download new drivers or something?
-
nvidia without digital vibrance!? atrocious. yea i downloaded drivers from laptopvideo2go. shouldn't it work with the drivers from dell? =\
if you do get the laptopvideo drivers, make sure you use the "modded ini" file to install -
Alright will do. Thanx!
-
ok kind lost here.... there are like a million drivers on that site.... which one is the one for me... i got the 8600M GT
-
You should have checked the Laptop2go.com forum site first, it'd show you the contents of the INI file with the support of the GPU models:

Also, please don't double post. A little bit of Patience goes a long way... -
thanks... mate... -
My 1705-E9400 has the same problem, which is not present in my D630, nor in my HP TX1000. I think it's got to do with Dell's 17" lcd on the Inspirons.

Also don't forget to use the modded INF file. Here's a tutorial on how to install if you're not familiar with it.

Do not download version 165.01. That version is from way back in April. For whatever reason it's showing up at the top of list and has a higher version number than the later ones. Very confusing.
-
Ok at least got the digital vibrance settings adjustable... so the next driver will probably have the image sharpening fixed.....
-
Has anyone tried using their s-video port after installing the drivers from laptopvideo2go? I'm now getting an error when I try to use it.
