I bought my Dell Studio 1749 on 20th April 2010 form Dell UK, Unfortunately the screen is extremely easy to get overheat recently. When it get overheat, the Windows was operating normally, only the screen will get crazy as the youtube video shown.

The problem start happening every time after around an hour of playing 1080p movies( no other software was using in the same time ), or other high load applications. But the problem will not happen if I connect to an external screen with HDMI cable. Therefore I am quite sure it is the problem of the screen or the cables between the screen and motherboard.
I have also attached a photo showing the part of my laptop which is heated, hope that will help. And the 90W AV adaptor is extremely hot as well, is that an issue?

An error message “Error determining system information. Please try again later.” Is shown every time when I tried to contact with dell online technical support. and I don't know how to describe my screen situation without the youtube video on phone. Anyone can tell me what should I do now?
thanks -
Is the fan operating properly? That area top right that you say is cold has the main heatpipe (from processor) running to it.
-
the fan is operating properly, thats the reason why there is cold, i think is the heatpipe between the middle part and the fan does not working properly. i really don't know why...

Ohh.. my....
I just ordered almost exact same configuration (only with 6gigs ram, and 320GB hdd)
