1440x900 is better imo. as lots of people say it gives you more real estate, which will prevent you from scrolling sideways in alot of documents and web sites.

1440x900 is way better. You get 25% more space to work with. 1280x800 is just too low for me.

What size screen are you getting? I ask because 1440x900 on a 15 inch screen may be to small. I use 1280x800 on a 15 inch monitor and it's enough real estate while also being readable, my external lcd ws is 19 inch with res of 1440x900 and is readable and I have enough room to work.

I don't see how people worry about not having enough real estate. Right now I have a 17" 4:3 at 1024x768 and websites fit very nicely on my screen. Rarely do i have to scroll sideways. This is about 25 pixels per inch less than a 15.4" at 1280 too.
