about to purchase M1530 and did some due diligence on screen resolution. still confused. is there a simple guide to follow: my spouse and I are middle aged and our eye sight is not what it used to be; we spend a lot of time on- line reading text and working w/numbers. so a larger font makes some sense (but we're not dinosaurs...)

i'd like to get into gaming w/this 1530 as well (not aggressively).

is it practical to go with a resolution 1680 x 1050 and plan on modifying on an as-needed basis? is that even advisable?

    or go w/ middle ground 1440 x 900?
    really don't want to go w/1280 x 800.

can u adjust optimum resolution setting w/o harming the computer?

    again, Thanks very much.

This will help you alot: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=2226120

On a 15" screen 1680 x 1050 is way too small in my opinion. 1280x800 is good as its native resolution making games run better, but you have very limited desktop space.

I went for the 1440x900 option as a nice compromise just waiting on mine.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah I went for the 1440x900 as I need space to multitask and so that I can game also. The other reason was that it was too much money. lol.

I went with 1200X800 on mine, and I am very happy with it. I don't have perfect eye sight too but I think I can definitely live with 1440X900, if the WXGA+ screen is anyway near the quality of LG LPL0301 screens I received. I think going 1680X1050 or beyond will be too small for general reading texts on internet and punching in numbers.

AND 1200X800 isn't too bad, it's nice screen size if you do look at lot of texts on internet and punch in a lot of numbers.

i have the 1280x800 on my 14 inch vostro 1400.

Looks great, perfect size for this display.

You'd do best with the 1440x900, but I think the 1280x800 might do okay if you like your icons big.
