I tried to search for other threads about this without luck. Every day (sometimes multiple times a day), my screen saver attempts to kick in, but instead I just see a completely black screen with the cursor spinning as would happen for a fraction of a second before the screen saver takes over. This lasts for several seconds, to several minutes. When I click the screen it says the "log on screen saver is not responding" and I can choose to end program, or wait until it responds. Sometimes ending the program returns me to desktop, other times it just gives me a black screen with the taskbar though none of my desktop icons are visible, and I can't pull up any of my windows from the taskbar. Any idea how to resolve this? I've re-booted multiple times but beyond that I'm not sure what to do.

    Just a couple of suggestions..
Take a look at your power management settings.
Maybe a different screen saver with different settings.

Well I've been switching the screen saver as well as the time it takes to kick in and I still have the same issue. Not sure what other power management settings there are.

Sorry I don't have Vista so I can't help with that..but in XP it's in Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance.
    Hope that helps.
