    hey everyone, i just put XP on my laptop, and i got to installing the drivers. for some reason my scroll isn't working on my touchpad with the drivers i got from dell. i have an inspiron 1720. anyone think i should reinstall the drivers or if you guys have any other solutions let me know.

    Try clicking on mouse in control panel to see if the Synaptics driver is there. Also, if it's not in start-up it won't show up. Since I use a USB mouse and keyboard when at home I have it disabled from the start-up programs

    ah, never mind just got it, i forgot that i didn't restart, silly me. but i still can't get my sound to work, after downloading many drivers by googling the sound card. anyone have a specific link that does work

    Have you tried opening "sounds and audio devices" in the control panel? You can try hardware and troubleshot.
