Morning all, I have an Inspiron 6000d 1.89 G processor blah blah.

My question, has anyone else had a problem with the sd card reader on the side of there computer ? I just got a new digital camara with a 2 Gig sd card and I get a (Code 10) when trying to read it. I know its not the card cause it also came with a usb input for the card and it works fine.

The when I insert the card into the slot it make the chime that the computer is trying to access it but then nothing happens. Any help would be great.....

    Thank u

The only thing I can think of right now is to check Dell's site for newer drivers.

Probably its hardware problem, I am not sure about built-in SD reader, but my PCMCIA 6-1 card reader, the SD part is only limit to 1 GB, it cannot read 2GB or above.

Thank you for the reply, I believe it is a limitation in the reader, my buddy has a sd card reader on his 700m laptop which he uses all the time for his card which is a 1 gig. He tried my card and it would not start up.....

Wonder if Dell has a ferm wear upgrade so it can read larger cards...?

    Thank u again guys.

The Code 10 error usually means Windows was not able to load the driver for the device. Since a memory card doesn't need a driver to be used, I'm thinking Windows is not able to properly identify the card for some reason.

Have you been able to get the 2Gb card to work with any other computer/device? One possibility is that the SD card itself might be bad. Testing a known good SD card on your system, or your card on a system that is known to be able to read 2Gb cards, would tell you for sure which the problem is.

If the problem is with the card reader, I would be more than happy to do all I can to help you with it.
