So long story short, I accidentally put the sd card in the slot loading dvd drive and can't get it out again. Has anyone had any experience with Dell support for this sort of problem?

My laptop is still under warranty, will they replace the drive without charging?

What is the model of your laptop and dvd drive?

    Studio 1558 and TSSTcorp TS-T633C.

I eventually managed to get the sd card out (using tape to hold the dust guards open, my phone camera led as a flashlight and metal from a hanger as a hook to pull it out).

The dvd drive is completely screwed though, I stuck a dvd in, it won't release the dvd and makes a crazy noise when it boots. I disabled the drive in Windows for now.

Dell are sending a technician around tomorrow to replace the drive, so hopefully it'll be resolved then.

Well, the technician came around and replaced the drive. But he did a half baked job in putting the laptop back together again. The area around the touchpad was loose, (I clicked it into place), one of the pieces of plastic near the hinges haven't been put into place properly, the bottom compartment was loose (fixed by me) and a screw is missing from near the dell logo from the bottom.

Dell are sending someone around again tomorrow to fix this. The annoying part is I won't be at home when he gets here so I can't make sure everything is done properly.

Anyway, I've made my feelings clear to the manager at the tech. support centre and he said he'll relay the message to the technician.
