    1.83 dual
    bluetooh
    60gb 7200rpm
    256 geforce
    webcam
    HD audio
    DVDR
LCD? not sure if they are all the shinny or matte ones? im guessing with webcam they are all the shiny ones
    1gb 677 mem

$1088 with the 10% off XPS coupon

bascailly the exact spec I was going to buy before deciding to wait for Merom. I figure at this price, even with Merom out at a similar price point to new XPS systems, I wont feel too bad, and the performance will still be ok for most things I do (gaming not being one of them).

    Ok deal?

ah, I do lots of digital photography, which means too many hours crunching photoshop BAFs. plus I needed the portability of the 12", so this is the perfect choice

All the XPS systems have glossy screens with reflective coating. This doesn't have anything to do with the webcamera.

    great, thanks.

Im guessing these ship out within a day or two? Mines already in "processing", but the estimate ship date is still Aug 8. I figure they just need to move the box and mail it out...

btw, i just sat there this morning, hitting my search que over and over, until i saw the unit I wanted. I had to get the 256 geforce, so that always returned 2-5 results, sometimes none. they are adding themalll the time, and people get them dropped from their cart, so i think anyone can get the one they want. Just becareful at the details like the mem speeds...

You get the coupon off ebay... And yes, you can use a discover CC and get another 5% off. Use fatwallet to get another 3% rebate. Thats 18% off! Looks like a very good deal you got up there. Saved a few hundred buying it from dell outlet. ;)

Yup, sign up with Discover before you make the purchase. I dont know about the fatwallet program, never looked into that, would have been a nice additional 3%! oh well, ill be happy to get this 1210 going...even as I watch Core 2 come out soon :)

it might be best to stay off these forums if you dont ever want buyers remorse :)

Bought a e1505 from outlet yesterday. I too had the shipping date on August 8th...it shipped today! (August 1st).

Does anyone know where outlet purchases ship from? Tennessee?

Outlet orders ship from Waco, TX. Here is a hint to get your tracking number early: Go to the order history (not order status) in Internet Explorer only (this won't work in Firefox for some reason). Click on the order number and it should give you a copy of the order invoice. The waybill number should be in the top right section, add a 1Z in front of that number (atleast if UPS commercial was your shipper) and that is your tracking number!

Good luck with your XPS M1210. I bet it will be a fine machine as is, and could take a Core 2 Duo upgrade in the future, making it even more viable. You might even want to post a review with special attention to detail on how dealing with Dell Outlet went. There are many out there with questions about their service. I'm happy with my Precision M70 I picked up from the outlet two weeks ago, it was a steal at $819.00!

The Dell Outlet has the greatest deals. It's really unbeatable.

Last week I got my first laptop, which I'm actually typing on right now.

    It's a Dell E1505
    T2500
    80GB 7200RPM
    1GB RAM
    X1400
    9 Cell Battery

All for $891 shipped. At first, it was supposed to ship on August 4th, but I e-mailed Dell and inquired why it would take so long. I argued that I bought it from the Dell Outlet, which means the notebook is already assembled, yet I'd have to wait a full week just to wait for it to ship. THEN, I'd have to wait another 3-5 days. My response was that I am a "valued customer", so they upgraded my shipping to overnight... FOR FREE. I got it the next day.

    Also, back in November, I got a Dell 9100 with a Pentium D 830, 2GB RAM, 2 x 160GB 7200rpm HD's, X300SE for $760 shipped. At the time, I believe I undercut the value by about $400-$500.

    Long live the Dell Outlet!

Yup, the Outlet has some great deals. I can't imagine why my M70 was returned twice; it a perfect machine, no dead pixels or malfunctioning hardware. I guess it does not matter as long as it got the double discount, eh?

It makes me feel even better because my machine can take a 7800gtx upgrade. So for around $1100 after all is said and done, I can have a 15" lightweight machine that performs like a 17" DTR at a cheaper cost. Got to hand it to dell!

been playing with my outlet XPS for the last few hours, getting it all set up.

It has been perfect, not a single dead pixel, scratch on the laptop...basically its brand new.

anyways, i hope all you other outlet shoppers have the same experience.

oh, and no keyboard flex that i read about here so much.

Only neg, is the touchpad buttons are mushy for my tastes and the keyboard space bar is too sloppy.

Love the webcam and the fun annimations you can overlay. the 12" is a good size as well, coming from a 15.4 high res, i thought id be depressed, but the real estate is workable.

Isn't the spacebar thing the keyboard flex? I still don't understand what a flex really is.

lol, if it is, then I have it! but it doesnt bother me too much...i might open it up sometime later, but for now its no big deal. just a little sloppy on the right side...which unfortunately is the area i hit with my thumb the most.

the flex is near the right hand side lower corner i.e. the up,right, left, down buttons. Press on it hard not too hard and the area will sink down compared to the rest of the board.

Anyone know how to set up the scroll on the touchpad to scroll whatever the mouse pointer is hovering over, regardless of whether the window is "active" or not? The m1210 seens to have some new utility that shows the scroll icon when you are making that motion on the touchpad, but you have to click into the window first...this used to be in the Mouse/Control Pannel

also, anyone have a solution to the spacebar being sloppy on the right side? The left side of the spacebar clicks and snaps back positively, while the right side bottoms out and doest feel quite firm...

edit: after removing the spacebar and noticing that the right side return spring (plastic) was moving oddly, I chatted with XPS online and they are sending a new keyboard already, should take 5 min to fix. Good service. I must note, that with all the India tech support bashing, the guy I had was very good. He called me on my cell to tell me that because of the on site warratny, they could send a tech to do it, but I said I would do it myself and they are fine with that. Polite, and accent a little bit hard to follow, but Im satisfied.

Good to hear. XPS is supposed to have better service. I think the "India tech support bashing" is pretty much related to outsourcing - losing jobs here in America it  's people
