Okay, so this may just be nitpicking, but occasionally while typing my left hand will brush near the touch pad and I wind up typing somewhere in a document that I don't want to be typing in. Now, on my old lappy, I could turn off the touch pad but even there this wasn't really a problem.
Anyway, I've tried tweaking the Dell branded Synaptic settings but I couldn't find anything that worked like I want. So, I kinda want to use the right mouse click button on they keyboard (next to the arrow keys) to turn it off when I don't want it. Any ideas? I tried keytweak, but it didn't have any options for disabling the touch pad or anything clever like that.
And secondly, and ideas on how I can get past the simple Synaptic-Dell branded frontend to get to the good touch pad settings? Am I going to have to go get the "Real" Synaptic software?
Cheers.

I have had the exact same problem with the 1400. At 1st i thought it was a software problem but when i tried typing with my hand away from the touchpad, the problem stopped so I guess the touchpad is the problem.
