I use an Inspiron 1501 in a race car to communicate with the engine management ECM. Unfortunately, the ECM uses serial connectivity and I am fed up with USB-serial adaptors/drivers. Is there a serial PCMCIA that is known to work on the Inspiron 1501? In doing some research, I found a couple of reviews for products that said the product did not work on a Dell laptops, so I have a concern about buying one w/o surety that it will work.

    TIA,

    Thanks for the correction.

One review of the Syba product says it does not work with XP despite help from Syba tech support. Any experience or feedback with the Star-tech product? Hate to throw $50+ in the trash and be just as frustrated as with the USB-serial adaptors.
