Alright so I'm stupid. I turned on the crappy nview software the other day and attempted to connect my E1705 to my huge HDTV. I was unsuccessful to say the least and now whenever I close the lid of my laptop, the screen resolution changes, the icons on the desktop are moved around and active programs are moved towards the upper left corner. I have attempted to fix this unsuccessfully as well. I even tried re-installing my 7900 drivers to no avail.

Now, however, I seemed to have only done more damage. I must have messed with something I shouldn't have because everytime I turn the system off and back on it comes up with a screen resolution of like 800x600 or whatever...do you have any idea how HUGE that is on this screen???

It's driving me crazy. I don't know what I did. I don't even know what's going on. I have to reset my screen resolution to 1400x900 everytime I turn the thing on. PLEASE HELP!!!

Make sure you reboot the system after you remove video card drivers and before you reinstall them. If that does not work, you might need to clean out all of nVidia registry entries (after you uninstall the drivers). I think there was a link to a tool that would do that somewhere in this forum, but I'm not sure.

Why is it doing it though?

This is stupid, this sort of thing should be fixed by nVidia the second it's discovered.

why don't you go and ask dell if you still have warranty which you should.

Have you tried 'Roll Back Driver' in Device Manager?

Have you updated your drivers to the latest Nvidia version (not Dell supplied)? I'd suggest doing that before you do anything drastic.

If you don't know what it is you should try system restore, maybe that will fix it.

Call dell before doing a system restore
