My Dell 1520 T7300, 2gb ram, 8600 GT system slows down to unplayability when the computer reaches about 70 degrees C, as measured by I8KfanGUI.

    This never used to happen.

Is this a defective video card?

I'm assuming your referring to the 8600GT. 70 degrees should be of no problem. It is possible that you might have a defective video card. Though try downloading and installing the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go as Nvidia has mentioned that the latest drivers do help fix the issue.

Are you sure that the system temps climb up to 70 degrees while your playing? Have you tried playing 3D, but less graphics intensive games?

I would also consider getting a second opinion on that Temperature of yours.

Try downloading hwmonitor and see what temps it measures.
