Dell service is a real pain! Awhile back my LCD needed to be replaced-it took five days to get the part! The technician was great he responded quickly and did a great job but it took forever for the part to arrive for him to do so!

Now I've ordered two 512mb sticks of ram from dell for my Inspiron 8200 and its going to take them 3-5 weeks to deliver! Why? I notice many other systems have their ram shipping in a day or 1-2 weeks tops so wtf!? (and the 1-2wks is to long to)

I paid $150 only to wait a month to get my ram! :(

You might want to cancel your order, and look elsewhere for RAM. Dell always over charges from ram. I would look at Newegg.com or some other online dealer for cheaper ram. Plus you'll normally get it in a few days.

Yes! Don't buy RAM from dell they rip you off. Also the RAM isn't always the best brand. Get a brand you can trust like Kingston or Crucial, Samsung ex.. $150 for 2 x 512 is a ton! On new egg they have 2 x 512 DDR 400 for $76. Or if your RAM is DDR II 533, then they have a special for $61 AR ($10 Rebate) for Samsung 1GB stick! Thats less then half of what you paid. If its not too late like SG said, cancel your order! And go look at new egg. 3-5 weeks is out of the question!

Well when I looked up the cost on kingston's site and some others my ram was generally the same price as what dell charged I'm just angry about the wait being 3-5 weeks. Would it void my warranty to buy somewhere else? I'm on an extended 4yr warranty.

Nope, it won't void your warranty. The new ram is not covered by your warranty, even if you buy it from Dell. So if your new ram has problems, you'll have to fix it on your own.

Usually if you buy it directly from the manufuacturer like Kensington or Crucial, it will be more expensive. This is why alot of us go to computer vendors like newegg. I was able to get 1 stick of 1gb for 67 dollars.

WEll surprisingly the ram arrived today (took about a week) they said 3+ weeks but delivered much sooner! I'm happy again! And according to the documentation included with the product it is supported under my warranty.
