    Shipping time over 1.5 months?

    On 7/5 I ordered my dell xps mp1530 with LED screen and 9-cell battery. Ever since I ordered it, it has projected the shipping date as 8/18! I know there has apparently been some delays with the 9-cell battery, but will it really take this long to get to me? I really can't wait that long, I leave for school on the 18th. The dell site says it's still in Production.

    their shipping dates ARE VERY conservative. I ordered right at the beginning of July with an ESD of August 12. I got it on monday July 21st. :) 3 weeks compared to a projected month and a half.

    It's been known that Dell overestimates their shipping times, to cover themselves just in case.
    Give it some time, you might be pleasantly surprised if you get it early. ;) I say if, because I don't want to say they will ship it early, then that one time they don't. :)

    "Thank you for contacting Dell.

    I understand from your email that you would like to ship your order sooner. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. I will assist you with the required information.

    I am sorry to inform you that there are 3 items on your order which are currently in shortage.

    They are the Graphics card, LCD Screen and 9 cell battery.

    The lead time for Graphics card is 7 days and LCD Screen is 12 and for 9 cell battery it is 20 days.

    The estimated ship date of your order would be on or before 8/18/2008.

    Every effort is being put by our Vendor to get the parts as soon as possible such that our Order Processing team would speed up the process.

    I have changed the shipping method to next business day without any additional charge such that you would receive the order sooner.

    I have also submitted a request to expedite the order and if there is any change in estimated ship date, I will provide you with the new estimated ship date.

    Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience caused due to the delay in processing your order."

    20 DAYS?!?!?

    Thanks for the reassurance and I hope you're right lol. I just want a fair amount of time to break in the laptop before I leave for college

    Trust me when you get it- just reformat the Vista os, add rocketdock, find some opensource programs, etc etc and your set. Your in for a good system.
