Okay, I got my tracking number for my Inspiron 1520 and checked the status of it, and it says it's being shipped to my school!! Except, it has my home city and zip code... WTF?! Does it just say that because I used a student discount or are they seriously sending it to my school? Because if I lose this laptop due to a shipping screw up after I have oh so patiently waited FOREVER, I am seriously going to..... cry :(

if u examined the shipping information from the moment u made ur order, youll notice that under your name, it says the name of ur school followed by the actually shipping address. While I can't be 100% sure seeing how mine is still in the build stage, it looks like the whole school name thing on the shipping info is just there as as some sort of affiliation to the customer.....You shouldnt worry

Have you ever got stuff shipped to your school before? Maybe it was in as your default address.

Edit: nm.. I was just taking a guess.. maybe SouthBerm is right.

doesn't matter, it'll ship to w/e you made it your shipping address. it just says your school name for some reason. it'll say your school name, shipping city, state zip on DHL as well - it'll stick get to where you ordered it to. no worries!

keep an eye on your dhl page though, i had to call and confirm my address even though they had it right because they were confused whether it was to be shipped to my university or to my house(less than 15 mile difference).

Even if there's a shipping mistake, it's not like you'd lose the laptop. You just contact your school and get them to reject the shipment, the courier service will return it to Dell, and they'll just reship it to you again. Your school isn't going to steal your laptop :p

i think pwnstar's concern was more along the lines of "OMG ITS AT SCHOOL NOW I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER WEEK"

Mine cost $1490 with 3 year warranty plan. I had a $200 student discount, $275 (somewhere around that) Inspiron discount, %7 warranty discount, and 12% EPP discount. It's not as cheap as it sounds, it's about the same price if I config it now with the Dell Univ. Actually, I'd be getting a slightly better deal, but no way I am going to wait any longer. I am about to go into raging PMS b*tch mode and kill someone if I don't get it soon!!!

I am hoping it will be everything I want it to be and more... but if I find one little thing thats messed up or bugs the hell out of me, that is my excuse to get rid of it and get a HP dv6500t or a Vaio FZ. The FZ looks very very sexy. Bit pricey though.
