I don't know if Dell just isn't updating their website or phone order status thing, but my laptop is supposed to ship today and the website and phone both say it's still in production and is in the "build" stage.

I just checked and received an e-mail that tells me my order has been delayed a week but the website still lists the same delivery date. WTF is going on? Anyone know the EPP number so I can go yell at them? They can't possibly be thinking of making me wait an entire month for this laptop.

Sorry to hear that. I live in Florida, I'll come up to atlanta, and we can strap gummi bears to ourselves and go raid a Dell store somewhere.. :\

I feel your pain - I'm also confused because you have to wait almost a full month, while a bunch of people are reporting that they've ordered the same model/specs 1520 at a later date, but are receiving theirs so much more quickly.

Shouldn't it be in like testing stage or something? OMg I'm on the phone with a Dell rep and I've waited 5 minutes on hold already for him to bring up my order status. They must have put a marker next to my name that says "give this customer a hard time".

I'm speaking to one of the US EPP/Student reps, but this guy sounds like he is Indian. He put me on hold again!! WTF how hard is it to check a damn order status? Freakin noob. Maybe he knows I'm about to yell at him for the delayed shipping.

Not surprised...Actually, I think they are VERY efficient ... so efficient that they actually have a mini-party with shots and all while you are on hold. LMAO...

I need to work for Dell in that case. Must be easy, sitting there with your headset, taking calls and then transferring them to someone else so it's not your problem any more, and then back to partying!

I'm having the exact same problem ordered July 1, been in production since July 2nd, and on the website it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I sent them an email this morning complaining about that. I also complained about the mislead for the graphics card. We will see if they do anything about it.

Did you ever find out what is going on with the notebook? I have the exact same specs as you except in black and with 80gig drive. Set to ship on the 20th... Still "in production"...

Tired of Calling Dell all this week....

My order has officially been delayed a week for no apparent reason. Well, actually, their reason is that they are on a back order of LCD screens. But shouldn't have people who ordered theirs after mine have that problem? I think I ordered my lap top pretty damn early compared to most others.

    I'm really pissed.

No remote, now delayed shipping. I'm really not asking for much.

    Order date: 6/28
    Est. ship: 7/16
    Est. deliv: 7/17

And on 7/16, the day it's supposed to ship, I am notified that it will be delayed for a week.

    New est delivery date: 7/24

    WTF?!!   WHY???

The same thing happened to my 1420. It has been in production for almost 3 weeks and was supposed to be shipped yesterday. I called up Dell and was transferred 3 times between 3 Indian's who all sounded like they were reading off tele-prompters. So, finally I got someone who I could understand and sounded like they actually knew something and guess what? My new shipping date is between 8/14-8/16. They gave me no explanation as to why or anything nor would they answer my questions.

This is absolute B.S...I will never buy another Dell again, period.

There's gotta be a way we can like... complain and threaten to cancel our order? I would actually like to have some things added to my order and computer, but they always say you have to cancel the ENTIRE order for one little accessory. They need better English speaking reps. I don't feel like I need to struggle to understand what they're saying.

Dell emailed me responding to my question about the status of my laptop that is supposed to be delivered today, all they said was that the 1520 is so popular that it is delayed, and mine is in the final stages of production and should be shipped in the next 2-3 days and here in 7-9 days, stupid Canadian shipping taking so long.

I agree... better customer service is certainly needed. I can't tell you how many different folks i have spoken with. Could it be the 15.4 screen 1440 x whatever is really delayed??? That is what one technician said earlier today. Of course they told me to call sales and they had no idea. I think maybe Dell needs some better communication lines between the different divisions or groups... Something...

Pwnstar, who is the young lady in the pic?

    Good Luck,

I must be super unlucky. I called in today and finally got a rep who understood all my problems. He spoke good English, and even joked if I had been transfered 5 times already. I told him my problem, and he suggested I cancel my order and redo it (I would have to call another dept to do that first since I ordered online) but he would be able to give me the same price or better). Well, I was about to call the online dept. to cancel my order and call that rep back, but unfortunately, the crappy house phone I was using ran out of battery and I never got the contact info for him. He said he would be able to give me the remote too!! ARGH!!

I think I'm going to cry.

BTW. my avatar is Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill.

EDIT: They say its the 1440x900 screen thats causing delay.
