I ordered a Ruby Red 1420. It's still in Build stage. All these while, the delay was attributed to shortage of ruby Red lids...I called up last Friday and they told they have got the shipment of new color lids...I was hoping to get it soon...but when I called yday, I was shocked to know that my order was still delayed but not due to the Ruby Red lid anymore but due to backorder of processors and Graphics card...CSR at dell don't have a clue as to when they will get the shipment of processors...but they tell me that the problem with shortage of processors is not with Dell alone but will all computer companies...Whatever it may be...the bottomline is there is still delay in getting my laptop...and the situation doesn't seem too promising right now...Am happy that atleast I didn't cancel the Red option and go for black...if so I'd still be waiting...

Yeah, I ordered my 1520 on the 8th of July and was finally told the other day that it still hasn't been shipped because they're waiting on the video card for my computer. The guy estimated the 15th-20th of august for mine to be shipped.. but I got different answers all the time before that.. so I'm not really counting on it.

The T7300 is also delayed according to a Dell rep in chat yesterday.

If you think that is bad, when I got my 1720 with a crapped out harddrive, it took a month to replace it, as they said they were "out of harddrives." This was just resolved last week.

I don't understand how this can be, shouldn't the laptop have gone though the "kitting" stage when you ordered it? Why would a current shortage affect an order made on 07/25??? This may give more credence to mattstl's build theory here:

The Build stage message is a guise to make you believe that they are building your laptop...but when they actually gets the parts they start from the kitting stage again.

Anyways, Dell seems to have received their shipment of processors and Graphics card. My order went into Boxing just a few mins back...! :)
