I ordered an Inspiron 1525 August 7th and its status is listed as "in production", so it hasn't been built yet I don't think.

Before I bought it they said it would take 15 days maximum to get it. That is fine because I need it by August 23rd. Well, from what i've seen on this forum it sounds like I won't receive it until sometime in September, which is no good. I will have no computer to use in my dorm room.

Is it too late to cancel?

No it isn't too late to cancel until it enters the boxing stage.

There is the same model at Best Buy for about the same price.

The only difference is the one I ordered had higher resolution (1400x900) and a 7200rpm HDD instead of 5400.

    Hmmmm.....

I cancelled one in the boxing stage.......It's only too late to cancel after ir actually ships. Even then, all you have to do is call and complain that there's stuff wrong with it and Dell will take it back without a restocking fee and refund all your shipping charges.......at least that was my experience.

No, it isn't too late to cancel at all. :) Just call Customer Care and tell them you changed your mind ;) :) Make sure you get all the confirmation numbers, and also get e-mail confirmation with the referencing Case Number!

Good luck to you... ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

You can cacel your order anytime before the order has shipped. All you need is your order number, call up customer care and they will cancel it for you.

I wouldn't panic just yet. I've had that "problem" on a few shipments from Dell, and they suddenly went from production to boxing to shipped in nothing flat. Why pay the same for vga and a slow hard drive?
