On white background, there appears to be blemishes or a little grainy. Should I get my screen replaced and how? How long does it take? Is the Samsung one a lot better?

Which laptop do you have, what is your warranty, and what type of screen do you currently have?
-
Call Dell Customer Care, explain your problem, they will send someone out to your house. However, grainy screen seems to be a common problem with the 1420/1520 Inspirions, my 1520 suffers from it.
-
I got the screen replaced on my 1420. I called on a Monday and the tech came to my house on Wednesday and it took her less the 15 min to replace.
-
my screen was the exact same as yours...called dell t get it replaced. The guy came o few days later, and replaced my AUO screen with a LPL (LG Phillips) screen.
ITS PERFECT
so happy i got it replaced -
I think my screen isnt just slightly grany i think its quire massively grainy. would i be able to get my screen replaced?
I have the standard warrenty. -
Standard warranty will cover your screen, however you will have to send it to Dell. Only onsite warranties do house calls.
-
Just remember this...
If you ask to get your screens replaced because of a little graininess, chances are that the new one will be even worse. Make sure that your screen is bad enough to call for a new one. -
Gosh people, I was really satisfied with my screen. Now with ALL these talks about grainy screens, I am becoming paranoid and finding faults that are probably not even there.
Could someone please define what a "grainy screen" looks like and what are some examples? Pictures would help too.
Thank you. -
Be aware that if you're looking at an image that is not supposed to be grainy on a grainy screen...
-
edit* grainy? beats me, mine might...or might not be....lol i think it means that you can see the pix. on the screen. not sure though
cheers -
grainy looks like the pixels are broken up sorta.. or some describe it as if you smeared oil or vasoline over the screen.. and it has a sorta rainbow effect.. its hard over the net to show in detail what it looks like. do a search on google im sure some stuff will come up showing pics.... my screen is NOT at all grainy thankfully but the light bleeding is way to bad imo.. i could accept a small amount but this is kinda ridiculous..

first off, henryman2008 is a forum troll looking to stir attention in the dell forum.
It seems like the AUO screens are grainy and the LPL (LG Phillips) screens are perfect. -
I've been driving myself insane...
Is it or isn't it?
Would I have noticed it if not for this forum?
Is it because I'm used to my old matte screen and had never used a glossy screen?
I finally went to a couple of stores and examined as many glossy screens as I could, looking at the control panel's background. I found only one screen in the stores that seemed a little grainy, the rest all seemed fine.
After going home I looked at my new 1520 again, and there is a definite difference between this screen and the ones I looked at in the stores. Grainy is the verdict. And now I don't feel guilty about my request for a replacement. As suggested today, I did try adjusting the gamma and contrast, but I could discern no significant difference in the appearance of the screen.
My screen is an AUO.
Should I Get My Screen Replaced And If So How?
