    Ants?!? In my laptop?

Edit: probably a good idea to keep them out. You never know what it would take to short something out. Plus, if they're on the cpu/gpu when you turn it on, they might get fried and then you have burnt ant pieces bouncing around in your laptop.

ok let me tell you a discusting story.

i worked in tech for a school district for 4 years now. my 1st year, i went in a class room that had been sealed for about 2 months over summer. The floor was covered, literally covered in dead ants. it was like a black sheet on the floor. With them crunching under my feet, i walked across the room to the computer which was on the floor. It turns out the last day, the teacher spilled a can of coke on the pc as it fell off her desk and just left it. the coke soaked the entire computer. i found the entire computer filled with ants and coke.

After much cleaning, mostly to remove the coke, and getting all the ants out, the pc worked fine. so imo, ants cant damage a pc ;)

In the warmer parts of the States there have been blackouts as well as billions of dollars' worth in electrical damage to traffic lights and transformers due to fire ants chewing up the rubber wiring. So unless you live in an area with aggressive ant problems, you don't have much to worry about.

Ants are not to be encouraged, but if they get in, leave them to get out again.

About 12 years ago I watched a very small ant walk across the screen of the notebook I had then. What was different was that it was inside. I left it to continue and it disappeared out of sight. They were nasty little ants - usually found inside what I thought were airtight food containers.

    John

PS: They are unlikely to fry the electrics. They don't contain much water and can survive a couple of minutes in a microwave oven.

maybe he's going on his laptop in the backyard a lot? lol??

    true story:
my brother in law left his laptop on a table in the basement of my grandma's house a few years ago....there was some kind of ant problem in the basement and they were getting into the house through the floor where the table was....he had ants all over...crawling out of his keyboard...etc..etc...

as soon as he cleaned it all out, laptop worked fine...

Be on the lookout for a new movie in time for christmas....

    Ants in a Laptop!

Starring Samuel Jackson..."I'm tired of these Mother F--king ants, crawling out of my Mother F--king laptop!!!"

"Are you gonna open up a can of whoopass?"

"no, i'm gonna open up a mother f'ing can of COMPRESSED AIR!"

It's true! One time a swarm of ants found some left over food that was kept in the microwave. My mom took out the food, set the microwave on for 5 minutes, and 99% of them were still alive!

Maybe the ants in the microwave have already been mutated in super-ants capable of radiation and faster movement.
