No problems at all with my Inspiron 1520. My 2 year warranty ends in 2 weeks.

Anybody know how much a basic 1 year extension costs? Whats the worst that could happen? Motherboard dies? I'll go on ebay and buy a used board for $150 and be done with it. Seem a reasonable plan?

This laptop has been awesome. I've literally run it 24/7 for the past 2 years. Only reason I ever turn it off is when I travel or there is a windows update. I leave it on all night and day otherwise.

    Very impressed!

How much would the warranty be? Did you buy accidental protection the first time around as well? Do you have the $$$ to buy a new laptop if you don't have accidental protection and you hopelessly break this one? Think through your situation carefully.

    AV1611 out....

No I didn't buy accidental protection. Just the bog standard 2 year. Yes I have the money to buy a new laptop, but I'd prefer to just fix this one obviously as I don't see any reason to really upgrade. Are there even any GPU's currently available that are a big leap over the 8600M GT in a 15.4" lappy?

I may even upgrade the CPU on this one as the 1.5GHz should get a big boost if I get the 2.2/2.4 and drop that in.

    Hey there!
To find out exactly how much it would be to extend your warranty, you can contact a Dell Rep, or go here:

    Extend Warranty/Upgrade
    http://support.dell.com/support/top...y_store_sign_in?~ck=ln&c=us&l=en&lnki=0&s=gen

Put in your Service Tag, and it will give you all options & pricing.

I think if the price is right, and you look at the longevity & how long you plan on keeping you 1520..it may be a worthwhile investment.

Unless, you have possibly planned on in the near future to purchasing a new lappy, that amount of money for the extended warranty you could perhaps save for that! ;)

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)
