    Hey Guys,
I am pretty much a newbie and will be starting optometry school this fall. I am looking at the xps1530 just because I have heard so many good things about this computer and my also my school will give me additional discounts as well. My question is whether I should take advantage of this memorial day sale or wait another month or so for another good deal or new technology to come out. Is it advisable to wait a month, or will it not make much of a difference? Thanks in advance

The general consensus seems to be, if you need it now, get it now, if you want to wait, wait. :)
New technology will always be around the corner, so you'll always be waiting for the next best thing.
Montevina, which is slated to be officially released next month, will give a little better battery life, and a better IGP (integrated graphics), along with a higher FSB.
If you're not going to do any gaming, than you really don't need a dedicated graphics card, and all current IGP's work fine in vista, for normal usage, email, web browsing, etc. :)
If you go to the What Notebook Should I Buy? subforum and fill out the faq, we could give you better advice. :)

Accuse my ignorance but is the Montevina a processor or new graphic card? Will this drop the price on the existing technology? Thanks

Yes prices will drop as they did when the Santa Rosa platform was released.

Prices wont drop by a whole bunch when the Montevinas come out, and if you use a 25% off coupon, then you will get the system for a very low price, look at the one i ordered in my signature..

Go to the Dell website and configure the same way i have mine, and you will see that it is orginally $1900, but i got it for $1283.48
