I know dell has a good reputation regarding keeping their laptops cool  ..jk.

but should i invest 50$ into a laptop fan cooler though? Or is there a cheaper way to get around. Im not so afraid of my laptop burning up or whatnot, but i simply want my investment to last a long time without having any complications now, or in the near future. I'll be using my laptop a lot, and will seldom leave the machine leaving on all night (for downloads). Thanks a lot for your input! Ill even make a poll to make everything easier for you guys, thanks!

i dont think you need it. my vostro is really cool for a laptop, so im sure your 1520 is (same thing as mine) also cool for a laptop. they have well built cooling systems so i dont think its an issue.

lol Dell machines are extremely cool.. My Alienware laptop and desktop are always at 60 - 80 ideal.. lol The dell stick around 40 - 50 ideal.. But my alienware can explode for all i care, useless thing.

I'm considering getting a cooler, either way if it's not needed or it is, the cooler a machine runs the longer it lasts...

Anyone have a look at those thermal take ones? that prop the back up and have fancy looks?

The max. CPU/GPU temp does not cross 65 degrees under extreme conditions and on low load conditions idles around 45 - 55 degrees on my 1520.... It is normal for such a laptop and with a cooler you can decrease the temp by another 5 - 10 degrees max I guess....

so in any case, getting a cooler can only help my laptop right?
give it a longer life, not kill the hardware that fast, etc..

Unless you're using the cooler when room temperatures are below freezing and with a blizzard outside then there's no reason why the cooler is bad for your notebook (the cooler will hurt your pocketbook though).

If you ask me a cooler would only be useful if you are planning to regularly use your laptop only from one place and are not on the move..... Because if you intend to use the cooler you do need to carry it along with the lappy everywhere....

So if it is the first case then go with the cooler otherwise I dont advise....
