I had to reformat a friends Dell Inspiron laptop today. Everything is running lean and mean but should I install the Dell QuickSet application? Is that the program that allows hotkey control of the brightness, volume etc?
-
I do not have Dell Quickset controlled and I can control brightness and volume with the keys.
-
I have the software installed. Yes, the software control all those things you said. It isn't going to creat any overhead in my opinion.
-
It enables the Wireless Catcher switch that you have on the computer. Also, it displays a gauge when changing brightness or sound. Pretty useful.
-
It controls the Fn button that allows you to switch display output mode as well.
-
yea definitely its like 4 mbs
it controls the fn + hotkey button in xp/vista -
Yes I see that I can use the hotkeys without Quickset but I might install it if there is a visual display and volume also.
One last question, is it possible to uninstall the Dell Wireless Configuration utility without uninstalling the driver? It seems when I tried to uninstall the utility the driver went along with it. -
Actually you do not need to have quickset installed in order to use fn + hotkey functions
Should I install dell QuickSet?
