hello everyone... well this is my first post as well and I recieved my dell inspiron 6000d today. my dilemma is that I have the WSXGA+ screen with 128 ATI radion and am thinking of going down to the XGA display. I have noticed that everything is very tiny, including fonts as well as web pages. I will use my notebook mostly for word processing, web browsing and occasional DVD watching. Should I step down to XGA? Anyone have any thoughts and opinions on the sxga+ vs the xga? Also, when using internet explorer, it seems that the graphics are very rugged and not clear... anyone have this problem? Thanks much, Mark.

I think you should play around with your browser and other application font sizes.

I got mine today as well and I love it. Ive had this resolution before on a laptop though so I am used to it.

I'd say give it a day or two of using and you'll get used to the tinyness of the stuff and start appreciatng the extra workspace you have without having to alt-tab or anything.

On my other laptop after about two days I started complaining less about the resolution and started loving it more! Give it a shot.

I had exactly the same problem prior to returning my Dell.....in hindsight i should have bought xga, but had got sxga instead...the bluriness can be rectified by going into properties and settings and changing from 120 dpi to 90 dpi...which should make the resolution sharper but the text is way tpp small...

thanks for everyones reply... tdl, did you return the dell for the resolution reason? what did you end up getting? thanks. i think im going to return the computer in exchange for the different screen. 1200x800 is still pretty good resolution ...

yes i returned the laptop purely for the resolution issue and haven't decided on a replacement model....was going to get the Toshiba M40 but have read too many problems to date plus battery life seems terrible.....might wait for the HP dv 4000...looks ok but need to see reviews first...would ideally get top notch IBM T43...but big $$$
