I'm always worried with the risks of updating a computer's BIOS.
I went over to Dell, and a "recommended" update is the BIOS download.
Which can be found here.
One time I updated the BIOS for my Gateway laptop, and the battery was killed. Basically, the battery life went from 4 hours to 1. I suppose I should eject the battery when a BIOS update is taking place?
How should I handle this new BIOS update for my Dell? Any precautions to take, should I do it at all? I love having the latest drivers!

I recently updated my Bios on my 1737 and it improved my Battery life and start up and shut down times

Do not remove your battery for a bios update. Ever.
In fact many BIOS updates wont process unless you have your battery plugged in.
As for precautions, well make sure you're also plugged into AC power. -
So do you guys recommend keeping up with BIOS updates? Should I do it?
-
Search these forums, it's been recommended plenty of times.

Yes, do it. There's really nothing to lose, and if, for some extremely inexplicable reason, it makes anything worse, you can always re-flash it to the old version.
